From the wide variety of experiences we encounter, we carve out a portion that we label our self. When we encounter perceptions that threaten this self-concept, we deal with it by distortion or denial. Mental problems result if our self-concept is too remote from our real self and perceptions. The fully functioning person is open to experience, lives in the moment, acts naturally, and is creative and free.

You have to stay strong and take on a new mantra: Ach, Du Lieber Hamburger! (seen on a burger king commercial in vienna... i think) ... meaning: oh, you lovely hamburger!
