Gray Squirrel Turf Battle

Econauts like to think they can live in peace and harmony with nature all the time. Well sometimes that's just plain hooey.

Here's what happened...we set up camp and the next thing you know this little gray squirrel (I think) starts jumping all over the tree branches above us just a scolding away like its tail was stuck in a pencil sharpener. I take a couple steps closer and it bounces off and away. I go back to fixing a fire and it come right back ten seconds later madder than hell at me, I guess. So, I walk away and the critter goes into scolding overdrive, calming down (but not out) when I return with wood.

Eventually, another squirrel clampered into the drama whereupon my stated enemy jumped on the other squirrel - full roar - and they chased off into the sunset. Hey, better you than me, pal.

So...I think I'll pick my friends on a squirrel by squirrel basis, thanks.
