Checkpoint: Nakusp, BC

Mission Control...

This is Eco1...

So far so good on our southern turn. We did over 100 km through the mountains and set camp at 2000 hours PST.

Wonderful, uninhabitied country around here. A wilkderness paradise. We took a short ferry across Arrow Lake, then an hour to climb over a mountain range to Kootaney lake below.

Arrow Lake Ferry

Appearently this is the land of old hippy communes - some still active - and homesteading. That's right, you could just wander into the woods, cut some trees to clear the land, build a cabin and start struggling to survive in the middle of nowhere. Not sure I have the stomach for that.

It was pretty tough today, Skipper with a lot of ups and downs. At one point almost ran out of water. Strange things start happening to you mind when you're over-heated, exhausted, and don't know where the next place you'll find water. I wouldn't recommend it.

Hope all is well back at HQ. Time for some dinner and reading.
