Forestry: Controlled Burns

As a sat on the beach of Kootaney Bay a few nights ago, I spotted a plume of smoke rising from halfway up a mountain across the water. I thought 'forest fire'. At Skipper's suggestion at Mission Control, I called 911 and reported the smoke to the fire department to be on the safe side.

Well, I guess I'm not so familiar with this neck of the woods as it turns out the fire was actuall what's called a 'controlled burn'. This is a fire set by the forestry service every year in special spots to help prevent the spread of wild fires.

I feel like a bit of a fool for the 911 call now, but what if it had been a wild fire and I hadn't called?

good call Major Dude. Better safe than sorry! If you hadn't called and it was a fire you would have regretted ignoring it. I'm glad to hear you are back on the road to ecorocket recovery. Hope the rest of the travelling is smooth sailing!
