This is Eco1...
I'd say it was the worst all-round weather day yet, Skipper. We made it to camp in Whitewood - what I thought would be our lunch stop over this morning. Pretty disappointing results partly due yo the head-on wind and heavy mist. Partly a breakdown of the back wheel rim spokes all going losse at once and a cold/wet highway repair. Partly the accumulation of pushing through bad weather is slowing us down in general. Our results have been disappointing to tell the truth. I understand the weather's to improve on Saturday.
This morning at Grenfell - after only 2 hours of cycling - I took my rain jacket and two shirts off and squeezed out a full measuring cup of sweat. So, the distance isn't for a lack of trying.
We hope to visit a bike shop in Moosomin to realign the back wheel. I don't know what the problem is but. I may have to fix the back wheel with a large hammer soon.
Met a colourful character here in Whitewood by the name of George. He wears cowboy gear and a buckskin jacket and runs quite a museum. We might take a quick tour of it after breakfast tomorrow.
Old George is quite the authority on glass bottle collecting as well. His website is www.oldgeos.com.
No visit to Saskatchewan is complete without visiting old George's antique museum!
Guess that's all to report for now, Skipper. I'd be surprised if we made 75 km today on the flat prairie with excellent roads.
Hope you're well.

Smell the roses...
Any chance of sourcing a stronger rear wheel? Maybe a BMX bike wheel?
Rusty,
Yeah, getting a stronger back wheel was suggested to us by The Bike Shop. Lesse...a 9 gear 20' Presta tube wheel. Pretty rare stuff.
And to be honest, I don't wanna spend the cash. We don't have any big money sponsorship and money is getting pretty scarce to be honest. It would be great for someone (green) to come in and give us some money to throw at these problems. Scraping money together for food and camping is hard enough right now. That's the truth.
Anon, I'll have plenty of time to smell the roses when I'm living in a van down by the river.

The Red man makes love to his environment.
The White man conquers his environment.
What is the goal you seek ?
As you race across the Country in pursuit of success, consider that success is trying to catch up to you...
Consider ordering your tire, have it shipped to you. Money is all around you, if you can see it.
Consider staying among the people who have nurtured you across this great country. Bring them your message.
Perhaps they will find a couple of day's work for two strong men, picking berries, raking lawns or gathering the first cut of hay. Jesus was a Carpenter.
You are loved, no matter where you are!
