This is ECO1...
Anothr digital blackout has lifted on our BlackBerry. We have set camp just outside of Revelstoke. We decided to press on for the 60 km and spend the weekend in the picturesque area. The fine people at Lamplighter Campground were good enough to give us a discount on our stay.
The road approach to Revelstoke was in pretty bad condition - the worst we've seen, I think. Pot holes, poor road repair and rough chip-and-tar passages made the going a bit rough at times. But we made it.
OPERATIONAL REPORT: The EcoRocket's got a new lease on life after a fine repair job by Brendan MacIntosh, owner of Flowt Bikes and Skis in Revelstoke. Thanks for leading us in, Econaut Team. You did it again. The brakes cables (were stretched through normal adjustment) have been expert tuned and should stay in tune, according to Brendan, for some time now. Just in case, due to the length of our expedition, I picked up two sets of heavy duty replacement brake pads.
The middle derailer problem: Brendan discovered that the interior gear shift cable housing (the rubber covering) had frayed wires coming out of the ends which was causing our shifting problems. This is a quality contol issue that WizWheels should look into in future models. There is no guarantee that this won't be a recurring problem for us.
Wheel Post Brass Bushing: Brendan discovered the source of a slight front left wheel wobble - a worn brass(?) Bushing between the front left wheel assembly connection and the chassis. As this is an uncommon cycle part, we may have to jerry-rig some solution. Perhaps the Lordco auto parts store in Revelstoke will have something....
All else is well with the EcoRocket - that is if you don't mind the insane rattle of chain on steel structural rib in certain gears. Thought I'd fixed that problem last night, but I'll try to identify the source of my insanity this weekend. That didn't sound right.
Took a neat picture en route of an old 'burner' used in lumber mills which was converted into a cafe. Took another photo of a burner in use, but not sure what that would be. Does anyone back at Mission Control or someone else know?
That's all for now. Time for me to drink my protein whey drink to rebuild my muscles!
Hope all is well.
