This is Eco1...
Have entered Nova Scotia and set camp atop the highest hill in Sutherland with a commanding view of the road ahead. In one word: hills.
Back in bear country as the surrounding terrain has been chainsawed, but not bull-dozed of stups and waist-high vegetation. Dense forest is only 50 metres south.
Have cached food (not toiletries) and prepared to leap down the hill slide to highway below if need be. For the most part black bear is more afraid of humans - with reason - than we should be of them.
Still, there's no point in taking chances when within a bear's territory. It's a mistake to believe bear won't come close to a road. I know different.
Hope to make Cape Breton tomorrow. Hard to tell with the hills, but I'll try.

Yesch, Wilshy....
Another province in my pocket.
Whatsa behind me isa nooo problem.
The mountains in front of me of me may be a problem, though. On guy - with the right kind of accent - told me today that some of the mountains on Cape Breton the transport trucks can only go up at 20 km/h because they're so steep! Looks like I may have to whip out the regulation Econaut nylon rope and pull the EcoRocket Fitzceraldo-style over the mountains.
Thos old Scots engineers never saw a steep hill or mountain on this island that they didn't want to put this highway over. Too cheap to use dynamite to lower the hill (Ican say that because I'm part Scottish).
I've got an idea...
Body massage Auction: At the much anticipated telling of my expedition tale, top body massage bid will give me a well-deserved full body massage in the Victory Cafe (in beautiful downtoen Toronto) while I recount my tales of adventure and derring-do. I prefer extra virgin olive oil, but will leave that decision to the lucky winner.
