Status Report: Cabano, QC

Mission Control...

This is Eco1...

07/23 - 1840 hours

No camp sighted yet, Skipper.

Have just passed south of Cabano, QC on Hwy 185. A digital BlackOut may occur at any time now that I'm in Les Appalaches. I report now as a precaution.

The gear cable was replaced by Robert in fine fashion - works better than it ever did.

"Au Revoir, Robert! Merci!", I shouted as I veloed away.

"Bon Voyage, Capitain", he replied with hands in air.

At last I was happy to have the Quebec provincial flag (thanks, Michel) on my flag post. Felt like I was off to fight the British.

Quebec has been a real rollercoaster ride of emotions. I was lulling myself, thinking how nice it was, as I near the end of Quebec, to leave happily. Then, as I made the turn onto 185, the entire rear section of the EcoRocket collapsed with a sudden halt. I quickly removed the velo's top to discover that the rear wheel had come completely off. My main fear was that the rear wheel frame had snapped (a Major problem).

To my great relief, it simply fell off due to carelessness on replacing it. I don't think any significant damage has been done - I've travelled many kms on it since. The wheel does seem a bit whobbly/out-of-whack, though. It's serviceable. It's now 1900 hours. I need to find a place to camp along the highway within an hour.

I hope to pass Edmundston, NB tomorrow and continue on the TransCanada. Uncertain of signal. Will contact when/where possible.

This is Eco1...Out.
