Technical Problems: Fairing Support

Ground Control...

This is Eco1...

The rear metal support structure for the EcoRocket has broken completely. As you know, Rusty, This is 1 of the 3 structural brakets which conncts the EcoRocket's outer wood fairing to the interior chassis. This is a critical connection.

The Fix: I removed the cargo from the rear seat and began repair. I decided to wrap some of my spare nylon rope around the top of the seat and cut two holes on either side of the metal tube fairing support. By threading the rope under the fairing tube on both sides and tying it on top of the sturdy seat, I hope to lift and stabilize the rear end of the EcoRocket. Glad I had the regulation Econaut survival rope or I don't know what I'd have done.

You never know what may go wrong, kids. That's why it's important to Think Ahead and Be Prepared.

Hope this works, Rusty. I'll let you know at the next checkpoint. I hope to make Bellville by tonight.

The elderly gentleman who owns the property I'm repairing on came out to say 'hi' and gave me to interesting bits of information. First, that Terry Fox and Rick Hansen used Hwy 2 on their travels too. Second, that I better get off the shoulder because "the drivers around here are crazy!". That's good to keep in mind.

This is Eco1...Out.
