Checkpoint: Riviere-du-Loup

Mission Control...

This is Eco1...

Sorry for the delayed message, Skipper. Had some communications gear problems.

Have reached Riviere-du-loup (River of the Wolf) and camped behind the info centre in the heart of thid surprisingly large city.

All's well so far with the EcoRocket. By using mostly the middle derailer (3 high/mid/low gears) the gear cable is still intact. Thanks to Rusty, I've got a list of three possible bike shops in town for repairs. Emilie from the info centre suggested Hobby Cycle, nearby, so I'll see if it's open today. If not I'll take that rest day after all and wait until Monday.

I had one heck of a time yesterday. Perhaps the less said about the road conditions the better. The most frustration moment had to be veloing through St. Andre where the entire 3 km downtown street was loose gravel and potholes. The road crew demolished everything at once instead of more sensibly doing one section at a time, or one lane then another lane....

Emily actually called the bike repair guy at Hobby Cycle, but says the answering machine gave a sing-song message. I've come to expect this sort of thing from bike shops and makes me think he's probably a good mechanic - they need just touch of crazy, you see?

So, I'll see if the shop's open on a Sunday in this religious town.

This is Eco1...Out.

Received your message, and was just about to post your "Riviere-du-Loup" update, but you beat me to it.

Glad to hear you might have an EcoRocket docking repair station in town (and thanks to Rusty for finding it). Fingers crossed that they're open for biz on a Sunday. If not... perhaps take a well-deserved rest day and wait until Monday?

Best of luck, pace yourself and looking forward to an update later this evening if you can.

Over and OUT.
