Yesterday was not a good day. I blame temporary insanity for the illusion of ghosts. No ghosts. Let's just leave it at that.
Gilles, President of the regional armed forces Legion, let me do the honourary navy whistle calls for the lowering of the B+B's Canadian flag (at dusk) and raising of the flag (at dawn). I knew there was a reason why I brought that bosun's whistle....
Today is sunny, warm and little wind.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck in the middle of a classic Quebec detour that seems to take me every where, but where I want to go. The roads are of the quality I've observed in north Africa. Road construction areas I must travel over consist of loose, rough gravel casually dumped over dirt and left to rot into obstacle courses of one metre wide pot holes.
I'm resting at the top of a 16 percent grade hill in the middle of a forest, trying forget my disgust with the transportation ministry long enough to descend the 16 percent grade hill with a clear head. I think this is the beginning of the Appalation (?) Mountains.
The big problem - I've just discovered - is that the very important rear derailler cable has frawed severly and is about to break. I may be able to use loe/med/high gear stuck on one rear sproket when that happens. Maybe not. The special cable is probably 3 metres long. I may be able to do do a quick fix when it goes (very soon) and maybe not.
I believe Edmonston, NB is the most likely place for repairs. There are mountains between here and there.
Not sure how far I'll make it toward Riviere-de-Loup today.

I will abide, Wilshy. I've heard the whispered tales of Nova Scotia. If they're true, why doesn't every Canadian live there I wonder.
Rusty, I love you an I don't care who knows it!
