CheckPoint: Cherry Valley, PEI

Mission Control...

This is Eco1...

Have pitched my tent in Cherry Valley tonight with the Atlantic's salty mist drifting over the red potato fields.

It's going to be a bit of a bummer to leave PEI as it's quite a charming place. I'd love to spend weeks exploring it all. Very nice people, too.

I must cofess it's very different from what I - in my ignorance - thought PEI was like.

PEI Myths + Facts:

Myth: It's flat as a pancake. WRONG!!!

Fact: Up, up, up I went all dayI thought I'd reached the top when I passed the radio towers (usually the highest point), but no. Fact is, in PEI the hills only go up.

Myth: You can walk around the outside of the island in a day. No way!!!

Fact: This island is huge. It has a lot of beautiful shoreline (all the way around), and tonnes of trees and farms and towns upon towns all over the place.

Thanks again to Cornwall Day Camp for being a great bunch of bright kids. Tried to meet a camp in Charlottetown, but arrived too late today.

Tomorrow, I hope to board the ferry off the island and into Nova Scotia. From there I plan to head east on the 104 and 4 highways.

This is Eco1...Out

Your daily reports continue to inspire admiration, and envy for this predominantly desk-bound scribe.

Great to hear you're discovering all that is wonderful on the East coast!

Steady on, Eco 1....
