Checkpoint: St. Anne, MB

Mission Control...

This is Eco1...

We set camp in the Lilac campground with a non-alcohol tiki lounge and more hot tubs and paddle boats than you can shake a stick at. Camp is about 150km west of Kenora, ON.

The wind was with us for about 5 km as we circled Winnipeg this afternoon. I said to myself, "Better than against us" and jinxed it. As soon as we left Winnipeg with supplies, the wind came straight at us with a vengence.

It's sunny now, and pretty warm. The birds like to get up and announce the morning at around 4 am thses days. An by the sound of these wetland birds, it'll put a rooster to shame tomorrow.

We passed the mid-point of Canada today. That's a pretty good milestone. But before anybody starts cheering (yea!!!) I have to remember that this expedition is about travel days as a measure rather than distance.

Even though we're going slower than expected through the prairies, we're traveling uickly in a straight line to the east.

Much of the travel is up, down and sideways, meandering across Canada. Add to that, Captain Utopia's decision to leave the expedition in Toronto (or sooner) and reaching the middle of Canada isn't something I can afford to get too excited about. Toronto is the middle point of 'expedition days' I've projected for Kids Can 2007. As the days get much warmer, it will be harder to ride in the heat. The highways and roads get all twisty-turny in an area I'm unfamiliar with. Oh, and my French is not very good. Still, it's an adventure to look forward to!

Oh, and...tonight I can do laundry!

Hope everything's groovy back at Mission Control.

This is Eco1 Out.
