This is Eco1...
Hope you receive this message. We're camped approximately 15 km east of Portage La Prairie at the fine Portage Camp-O-Rama. The kind gentleman owner (who is a strong believer in Kharma) gave us the campground for FREE. Yea! It's heavily treed with a river and wetland nearby. Quite nice actually. Found old bird's nest
Today was sunny with wind over the port side for the second half of the day. A detour in Portage slowed us up a bit. Yes, there's still a few shallow valleys here and there, but it's really flat now.
For some reason, it seems Manitoba decided to place concret slabs for road surface on the TransCanada highway. When they realized their horrible mistake they then paved over it with the quick and dirty stuff. So now, every 10 metres of so there's a big crack (WOW! a sparrow just landed on the BlackBerry in my hand!) In the highway that just shakes the EcoRocket like nobody's business. Believe me, it starts to get to you after a couple of days. And how can you allow huge potholes to exist in the nation's highway? The loose gravel shoulder has us riding in the right of two lanes. So far there hasn't been an accident because of us. The police don't seem to mind as they drive past.
I'm gonna toss some 'dry' lube on the chain tonight. Maybe that will speed us up a little. We should pass Winnepeg tomorrow, though I can't say how far we'll get past that metropolis.
