Major Dude reports in from Gander - about halfway across Newfoundland on the Trans Canada Highway.
There are many hills on the highway and wind has been a problem. The ditches are deep and covered by shrubs.
Destination for the evening is Gambo.
ETA in St. John's remains Aug. 15th.
Major Dude's words to the Mission Controller were "In the moment of victory, tighten your helmet strap". This Japanese expression can be roughly translated as - we must not lose our heads at the first real signs of victory. Our victory, while it may seem to be close, is not assured.
