Eco 1.... This is Mission Control....
Roger your safe arrival at Check-Point 2: UBC Firehall #10. Good to hear from ya boys!
Congratulations on your successful first day, Econauts! The Mission Director, Ground Controller and "The Doctor" are all behind you, one-hundred percent.
Hope you fellas enjoyed the Firehouse prime rib. You sure deserve it, and kudos to the hardworking folks at Firehall #10 for their support.
Copy that on your worn limbs and upcoming EcoRocket modifications. Duct tape anything, and we mean anything, that's in danger of coming apart.
Our best here, at Mission Control, to Rob and Shannon for housing the valiant Econauts.

Mission Control...
This is Eco 1...
Thanks for the cheer, Skipper. We couldn't have made it this far without the help of everyone at Mission Control.
Shannon and Rob are the perfect hosts. Today, originally intended for media availability, will be used to rest and repair muscles. As I reported in a previous comment, muscles need time to recover and rebuild. We've lost that time, unfortuneately, and must press on into The Rockies.
Our RECON through The Rockies revealed large sections of 7, 8, and 9% grades over many kilometres. and the rises seem endless. We'll have to take it one mountain at a time - like in the old days.
Saw the biggest black bear in my life, chewing on something beside the road on one of the passes. Glad we've taken the bear spray onboard.
Water will be another problem. We're buying water treatment pills in order to drink from streams and snow run off springs along the way. The expedition has become serious business now.
Let's face it, the Econauts are a couple slobs with a dream. If we survive The Rockies - if - the rest should be a piece of cake.
The Truck Issue: We experience little or no turbulence from passing transport trucks. This is very good news and represents only a minor risk in our view.

Eco 1... This is Mission Control...
Relaying a transmission from David Greene:
"MD and CU. Greetings from Universal City, California. Rest assured I have done my eco-part in spreading the news of your efforts. I shout it out through the smog daily, and share your photos. Congratulations on the first day of your trip! Rest your legs. Get some cooling cream. Lather it on. It's only down hill from here....by that I mean the Rockies. Mr. Greene"
End transmission.
