After our reconnaissance drive across The Rocky Mountain range, we now realize that we were too optimistic in our estimates to cycle through the mountains. We deeply apologize for this, but feel it's important to inform all of the schools of this new information as soon as we can.
As hard as we try to pass quickly through the Rockies, the reality is that we'll have to actually walk the EcoRocket over many mountains with rope and harness. With this added hardship, we can no longer accurately project our arrival at any school beyond Hope, BC. The harsh prospect of this is nothing compared to the thought of letting down the kids we promised to meet and speak with.
Moving forward, we still hope to meet with as many schools as possible in our push across Canada.
OUR PROPOSAL:
- We contact your school by phone 24 hours prior to our actual arrival in your area to determine whether your students will be able to meet with us at that time.
- If an indoor venue presentation is not possible, we would be very happy to meet with your students outside the school during their recess or lunch period. Here the students could see the EcoRocket up close and ask questions about our trip and environmental message.
Sincerely,
Bill & Duncan

Hey Guys
Even though you are dissapointed about the delays I'm sure that the kids are finding reading about your adventure as fun and exciting as we are!!! Reading about your challenges and how you have overcome them has been very inspiring. Whether they actually get to meet the Econauts up close and personal and see the Ecorocket may not be absolutely necessary when they get the great day by day coverage of the adventure that they are getting.
Kudos to the team you have put together. Skipper, the Doctor and Rusty, as well as yourselves, have done a fantastic job of keeping us up to date and waiting anxiously for each new posting.
We are all pulling for you (unfortunately only in spirit and not up hills)!

Sue,
Thank you for your kind words. It's nice to think people are interested in our updates and Mission Control/Eco 1 communications.
We've got a first class team at Mission Control. We couldn't even attempt this expedition without this help.
