Velomobiles

Velomobiles, like the Econauts' EcoRocket, have existed for years. There's a great Wikipedia webpage on velomobiles here.

Velomobiles are basically pedal tricycles with an exterior body (fairing) to make the human-powered vehicle more aerodynamic.

While velomobiles have existed in one form or another in Europe since the 1920's, they are relatively new to North America.
